Black Friday Not so Much

I have heard people complain that Christmas is becoming to commercialized, well what did you do to contribute to this commercialization did you get up at 5am and spend spend spend in the pursuit of stuff? Have you fallen Victim to the more is better club. Christmas isn't about shopping and getting great deals just focus on the first five letters of the word and that's all you will need to have the greatest Christmas ever.

Winding down

On behalf of the Indiana University Hoosier nation I would like to welcome the Nebraska Cornhusker nation to the Big Ten (twelve teams go figure) I look forward to uttering these words to you next season "Oh well wait till basketball season"....I think I have mentioned this before and if you know me you are aware that I don't care for Notre Dame I am an IU fan regardless of their record but I will be honest there isn't any better place to be on a crisp fall afternoon then on a college campus during a home football weekend.
Last year my par time job had me on the campus for all the ND home games last year and I saw some really great things and some not so great things I think the highlight was when the Naval Academy Band marched past with all the midshipman following on their way to the stadium and just as they got to the stadium started playing anchors away and it made the hair on my neck stand up.
So tomorrow I rise up at 4am to drive to Wakarusa to get into a truck and drive over to the University of Notre Dame and watch the campus wake-up for a 3:30pm kickoff.

Oh yeah my Hoosiers are 1-0 but who was Towson

It has been six months?

Wow has it been six months since my last blog entry? There has been a lot of things happening in that time. I thought I was going to lose my job at the end of November but now I think were on pretty solid ground for awhile. Zack and Kaylyn got their drivers license's in November and Tracy and I took a cruise in Dec. Now you may say that possibly losing my job and going on a cruise don't go together but it was already paid for and we were past the point were we would get any money back if we canceled so we were going whether I had a job or not.
Gotta get back on track with this blog have a lot to blog about just need to get my thoughts organized.

One day at a time...

Wow, it has been almost three months since my last blog entry. In that time we have planned and cancled a trip to Disney World ,watched Kaylyns softball season, watched the kids finish up their freshmen year of highschool, sent Kaylyn off to Philadelphia for the PhillyGo trip, Zack volunterred at two diff VBS cuz he is now that cool teenager kid that the little kids like. Finnally we are taking a deep breath to finish up strong next the kids head to NMC teen camp which is an awesome experience and start drivers ed at end of July and will finish up just before they go back to school.

So I thingk the activities we did this summer were toned way down so that our lives weren't planned down to the minute and the schedule still allowed us plenty of spontaneous time to just have fun like trips to flavor freeze and cold stone creamery or a quick Sunday trip to Chicago for a dinner for two, or just simply a leasurely scuba dive on the morning of the 4th.

I good friend of mine put things into perspective for me when she told me there was a sign at her Dr's office that read "If you have one foot in tomorrow and one foot in yesterday your just pissing on today" now that may sound harsh but when she said it I understood completley what she ment since she has been battling for her life with breast cancer since Nov 08, oh yeah my money is on her in this fight.

Other thoughts

Gods creation mistifies me almost daily
NMC One was a great morning
Why is there always at least one screaming child on a plane or train?

Quick thought...

Why is it when God seems quiet the devil makes a huge ruckus?

Sunday, April 12, 2009

It had seemed quiet.

The beginning of 2008 was a time that I felt God had been quiet in our lives and I wasn't sure why. We seemed "comfortable" but maybe on autopilot would be more appropriate description. Tracy and I had decided to separate ourselves from our current Sunday school not because we didn't care about the people but because we didn't feel like we were being feed. Tracy and I were invited to join a group of people to be the first to go through the Marriage Dynamics program at NMC. I couldn't put my finger on the time since then but I think this song pretty much covers our last year.
